Dr Scott Janes is a Sport and Exercise Physician Registrar. Scott grew up on the Central Coast of NSW and, pursuing interests in musculoskeletal health and sport, began studying Physiotherapy, before transferring to a Bachelor of Medicine at the School of Rural Medicine in Armidale. After graduation, he commenced his medical career in Gosford in 2015.
During a 7-year diversion to Darwin, where he trained in general surgery and earned a Masters of Traumatology through the University of Newcastle, Scott took on the medical care of the Northern Territory AFL academy. He found that sport and exercise medicine combined his lifelong passions for sport, fitness, and seeking the welfare of others. In 2024 he moved to Sydney. He has since worked with AFL and AFLW, rugby union, rugby league and netball at the elite level, and is now on the path to specialist qualification as a Sport and Exercise Physician.
Scott’s intention is to provide excellent, patient-centred care of musculoskeletal issues to all ages and levels of physical activity. He seeks to understand each patient’s experience, concerns, and goals relevant to their injury, and a holistic view of their health and wellbeing. This guides the development of an appropriate, individually tailored management strategy to pursue.
Scott represented the Australian medical football community playing for the “Docceroos” in the World Medical Football Championship from 2015 to 2019. His involvement in football is ongoing, and he has since developed interests in weight training and golf. He attends the Antiochian Orthodox Church. He met his wife Lauren in Darwin, and they were married in 2020. In his free time, he enjoys reading, playing music, camping, and having a good coffee with great friends.
